Automox is a top provider of automation solutions for essential software configuration, patching, troubleshooting, and endpoint security. Their cloud-based service model is designed to enable IT departments in enterprises to independently find, initiate, and learn necessary skills and processes. Automox enhances its offerings with extensive support for multiple operating systems, a user community, e-learning opportunities, and a comprehensive resource center.
All these components were developed around their monolithic website, and managing these elements across multiple platforms became challenging without a central Content Management System (CMS). These blockers pushed Automox to turn to Refactored, who helped them transition to Storyblok, resulting in a 50% faster resources center page and a 2x content operations speed increase.
After we evaluated over 15 CMS vendors, Storyblok came out on top of all other headless solutions. It differentiates especially with its Visual Editor, which makes marketers' lives easier and significantly streamlines their daily work.
Addressing escalating development hurdles
- Managing multiple content resources: Blogs were housed in Ghost (open-source platform), downloadable assets and their landing pages in Marketo, and news and events were manually managed in a separate workflow. This fragmented setup made it difficult to maintain consistency, streamline updates, and ensure a seamless user experience.
- Dependency on the tech team: The marketing team's reliance on developers created bottlenecks in the workflow, slowing down the overall process of content creation and publication. This, in turn, hindered their ability to respond quickly to market demands and opportunities.
- Tedious content management: The marketers faced a cumbersome and time-consuming process involving the creation of site references, constructing landing pages, and uploading assets across various platforms.
- Scalability blockers: As Automox gained more visibility, they needed a news section and press center. However, none of the company's tech platforms offered an adequate solution for integrating this new content into their site.
- Migration concerns: Automox needed to transition to a robust and future-proof CMS without restructuring their website. Integrating the new solution while maintaining the existing site structure was essential for its continued growth and efficiency.
Automox’s digital makeover with Storyblok
- By utilizing features like nestable blocks and reusable content templates, Refactored implemented a new press center, which includes a headline feed, a highlighted news section, and a collection of press kit materials.
- Storyblok’s intuitive interface, Visual Editor with the live preview, and flexible content modeling allowed the marketing team to work more efficiently, reducing their reliance on the tech team and speeding up the content creation and publication process. As a result, the Automox team experienced a 2x increase in operations speed.
- Further improvements included better asset display, intuitive navigation, and effective topical categorization. These enhancements made it easier for users to find and engage with content, leading to a more seamless and satisfying experience on the site.
- Complementing Storyblok with best-of-breed tech solutions such as Netlify, Gatsby, and Next.js resulted in significant website performance improvements. This optimization led to a remarkable 50% reduction in the resource center loading times.
- Storyblok’s Management API allowed for seamless content integration, ensuring that the structure, formatting, and metadata are preserved during the migration.
Storyblok's JSON schema and robust API have been game changers. These features have made using Storyblok as our headless CMS a much smoother experience than our previous solution.
Seamless migration for swift data integration
One of the main challenges during the project was migrating Automox's content types without reinventing their entire site structure. Since their resource center, user support, and e-learning data layers were managed separately, searchability across topics for users was highly limited. To smoothly transit content from different sources to the new CMS, Refactored worked closely with Automox's developers, leveraging Storyblok's Management API. This move allowed seamless content integration, ensuring that structure, formatting, and metadata were preserved during the migration. As a result, overall data migration took only 1 month, and the new website went live after 2 months from the project's start.
Streamlined tech architecture and enhanced accessibility
Overall, Storyblok’s content-first model simplified Automox’s digital architecture, while its technical capabilities enhanced the speed and accessibility of content display for users and search engines. Site visitors can easily find relevant information thanks to the topically organized resource center, where each topic serves as a functional, keyword-optimized landing page. Today, the website ranks 100% in SEO ratio, which makes all the company’s website pages easy to find and explore.
