JOB SUMMARY
We are looking for a technically-savvy, analytical, and dynamic Senior Product Owner to spearhead our competitive intelligence efforts in the content management space. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in building websites or digital projects and a deep understanding of modern web technologies. You will actively evaluate competitor solutions, analyze trends, and help shape Storyblok’s strategic direction to maintain our position as an industry leader.
The ideal candidate thrives on getting their hands dirty with competitor platforms, testing real-world use cases, and translating insights into actionable product improvements. You will work closely with Product Leadership, Engineering, and the PLG team to drive innovation and ensure Storyblok remains at the forefront of the headless CMS market.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct hands-on competitor research by actively using and testing competing headless CMS platforms, analyzing their strengths, weaknesses, and feature gaps.
- Build test projects using competitor solutions to gain deep technical insights into their capabilities, ease of use, and developer experience.
- Maintain and continuously update a product feature matrix, benchmarking Storyblok’s features against competitors and identifying areas for differentiation.
- Work closely with Engineering to explore how new technologies and frameworks influence the evolution of content management platforms.
- Monitor emerging trends in web development, digital experience, and content management, ensuring they are reflected in our product roadmap.
- Review new feature specifications and use your knowledge of the competitive ecosystem to enhance proposed functionalities.
- Provide detailed, data-backed competitive reports, including win-loss analysis for enterprise deals, to guide strategic product decisions.
- Collaborate with Product Leadership to shape a forward-looking roadmap that leverages competitive insights and industry shifts.
- Partner with the PLG team to prioritize feature development, ensuring alignment with customer needs and competitive advantages.
- Develop competitor battle cards with Product Marketing and Sales Enablement to help sales teams position Storyblok effectively.
- Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Design, Marketing, and Customer Success to ensure Storyblok’s product strategy aligns with broader business goals.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Background in Product, Engineering, or Design is a strong advantage.
- 6+ years of experience in Product Management, Product Engineering, Developer Experience, or Product Design, with a strong focus on competitor analysis, technical research, and innovation.
- Track record of working in the B2B SaaS startup ecosystem focusing on Enterprise and Self-service products.
- Hands-on experience in building websites, digital projects, or developer-centric products is highly desirable.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Technical mindset with a deep understanding of modern web technologies, and developer workflows.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down complex competitor offerings into actionable insights.
- Passionate about testing, evaluating, and deconstructing competitor products to improve our own product strategy.
- Ability to think strategically and execute tactically, blending analytical rigor with creative problem-solving.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, B2B SaaS startup environment with a bias for action.
