Terms and Conditions Storyblok vs AWS Hackathon 2026

1.    Organizer

Storyblok GmbH - Peter-Behrens-Platz 2, 4020 Linz, Austria.

The Hackathon is organized in partnership with Amazon Web Services (AWS). AWS is a co-sponsor and venue partner and bears no organizational or legal responsibility for the administration of this contest, prize fulfillment, or participant data.

2.      Hackathon Dates

The "Storyblok vs AWS Hackathon 2026" consists of two separate in-person hackathon events:

•       Amsterdam Edition: June 29-30, 2026 at AWS HQ, Amsterdam, Netherlands

•       New York Edition: July 22-23, 2026 at AWS HQ, New York, United States

Registration deadlines will be communicated separately for each event. Late registrations may not be accepted.

Winners will be announced within five (5) business days following the conclusion of each respective event.

3.      Participation

  • Participants must be aged 18 and aboveor at the time of the event, and fully comply with the terms & conditions in order to be eligible to participate.
  • Storyblok employees and their direct relatives are excluded from participation.
  • Participation in the Amsterdam Edition is open to residents of the Netherlands and other eligible European countries (Germany, Belgium). Participation in the New York Edition is open to residents of the United States.
  • Participation is only possible during the period described above.
  • Participation is only valid for the specific event edition (Amsterdam or New York) for which the participant has registered. Cross-event entries will not be considered.
  • Participation is completely free of charge and does not require the purchase of any goods or services.
  • Participants must comply fully with these Terms and Conditions to be eligible for prizes.
  • Incomplete, late, or non-compliant entries will not be considered. The Organizer reserves the right to verify eligibility at any time.
  • By registering, participants confirm they have read, understood, and agree to these Terms and Conditions in full.

4.      How the hackathon works

Participants are required to:

1.    Register for the event edition of their choice (Amsterdam or New York) prior to the applicable registration deadline.

2.    If selected, attend the hackathon in person at the designated venue.

3.    Select one of the four challenge tracks (see Section 5) and build a working solution over the two-day event.

4.    Present the completed project to a panel of judges before the submission deadline set at the event.

5.    By entering and participating, participants agree that if selected as a winner, their name, photograph, and project details may be used in promotional materials, social media posts, and publications by Storyblok GmbH.

5.      Challenge Tracks

Participants must select and build within one of the following challenge categories:

•       Content Automation & AI Workflows: Build intelligent workflows and automation tools that improve how teams create, manage, and optimize content in Storyblok using Storyblok FlowMotion, AI, and integrations.

•       Content Intelligence & Optimization: Build tools that help teams measure, analyze, and improve the performance of digital content and experiences built with Storyblok.

•       Design-to-Code & Developer Experience: Build tools that reduce friction between design and development and streamline how digital experiences are designed, implemented, and maintained with Storyblok.

•       Composable Experiences & Integrations: Build innovative digital experiences by integrating Storyblok with platforms, services, and developer tools, including solutions built with the Storyblok MCP Server.

Submissions must clearly correspond to the selected track. Projects that do not align with any track at the judges’ discretion will be disqualified.

6.      Prizes

Each hackathon edition (Amsterdam and New York) has a separate prize pool of up to $5,000 USD. The total combined prize pool across both events is up to $10,000 USD.

Prizes per event edition are awarded as follows:

•       Winner (1st Place): $2,000 USD - awarded to the top overall project as determined by the judging panel.

•       Runner-Up (2nd Place): $1,000 USD - awarded to the second-highest ranked project.

•       Best Use of Storyblok MCP Server: $1,000 USD - awarded to the project demonstrating the most innovative use of the Storyblok MCP Server.

•       Best Use of Storyblok FlowMotion: $1,000 USD - awarded to the project demonstrating the most innovative use of Storyblok FlowMotion.

A single project may be eligible for the Winner or Runner-Up prize and one special category prize. However, a project may not win both the Winner and Runner-Up prizes, nor both special category prizes simultaneously.

Prizes are denominated in USD. Payment method and currency conversion (if applicable) will be communicated directly to winners. Prizes are non-transferable and non-exchangeable.

Prize money will be transferred via bank transfer to a valid bank account provided by one designated representative per team, within 90 days of winner confirmation. It is the sole responsibility of the team representative to distribute the prize amongst all team members. Storyblok GmbH bears no responsibility for the internal distribution of prize money between team members once the transfer has been made to the designated representative.

If a prize cannot be awarded for any reason, the Organizer reserves the right to substitute a prize of equal or greater value.

Winners are solely responsible for any applicable taxes, duties, or levies associated with receiving a prize.

7.      Judging Criteria

Projects will be evaluated by an independent panel of judges selected by Storyblok GmbH. Judging will be based on the following criteria (weighting at the judges’ discretion):

•       Innovation and Creativity: Originality of the concept and approach.

•       Technical Execution: Quality, functionality, and completeness of the build.

•       Relevance to Challenge Track: How well the solution addresses the chosen problem statement.

•       Use of Storyblok Technologies: Quality and depth of integration with Storyblok products and APIs.

•       Presentation and Communication: Clarity of the pitch and ability to demonstrate the solution.

The decisions of the judging panel are final and binding. No correspondence will be entered into regarding judging decisions.

8.      Intellectual Property

Participants retain ownership of any intellectual property they create during the Hackathon.

By participating, participants grant Storyblok GmbH a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide license to reference, describe, and showcase submitted projects for marketing, promotional, and educational purposes.

Participants warrant that their submissions do not infringe the intellectual property rights of any third party. Any submission found to contain unauthorized third-party IP may be disqualified.

Participants must not use proprietary, confidential, or embargoed code or data in their submissions. All submitted work must be original or clearly attributed to open-source/licensed sources.

9.      Exclusion of participation

The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify any participant at its sole discretion, without prior notice, in the event of:

•       Breach of any of these Terms and Conditions.

•       Provision of false, misleading, or incomplete information during registration or participation.

•       Use of unauthorized aids, tools, pre-built commercial products presented as original work, or any form of cheating or manipulation.

•       Conduct that is disruptive, harmful, threatening, discriminatory, or otherwise inappropriate toward other participants, judges, or event staff.

•       Violation of applicable laws or regulations.

Disqualified participants forfeit any claim to prizes. Storyblok GmbH reserves the right to recover any prizes already awarded in cases of fraud or material misrepresentation.

10.      Cancellation and Changes

The Organizer reserves the right to cancel, postpone, suspend, or amend the Hackathon (or either event edition), its dates, venues, prizes, or these Terms and Conditions at any time, including after an event has commenced, where necessary due to:

•       Circumstances beyond the Organizer’s reasonable control (including but not limited to force majeure events, natural disasters, pandemics, or governmental restrictions).

•       Technical failures or unauthorized third-party interference.

•       Any event that materially compromises the integrity or fairness of the Hackathon.

In such cases, no liability shall attach to the Organizer or AWS. The Organizer will endeavor to provide reasonable notice of any significant changes where practicable.

11.      AWS Disclaimer

This Hackathon is organized by Storyblok GmbH. AWS acts solely as a venue partner and co-sponsor. The competition is not organized, sponsored, administered, or endorsed by Amazon Web Services, Inc. or its affiliates beyond venue provision and sponsorship.

Any use of AWS services, platforms, or tools during the Hackathon is subject to AWS’s own terms of service and acceptable use policies. Storyblok GmbH bears no responsibility for AWS service availability, performance, or related issues during the event.

12.      Data Protection

Storyblok GmbH collects and processes personal data of participants in accordance with applicable data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) where applicable.

The following personal data will be collected from all participants:

1.    First and last name, and corresponding title
2.    Employer name and role within the organization
3.    Country of residence
4.    Contact email address

If selected as a winner, the following additional data will be collected for prize fulfillment:

1.    Postal address
2.    Email address (if not already provided)
3.    Phone number
4.    Financial Institution Details for prize distribution

Personal data will be processed solely for the purposes of administering the Hackathon, determining winners, verifying eligibility, delivering prizes, and related promotional activities.

Storyblok is allowed to use all and any photos, videos, recordings, tools, and written statements from this activity for marketing purposes without previous notice.

Participants may withdraw from the Hackathon and request deletion of their personal data at any time by contacting Storyblok at marketing@storyblok.com. Withdrawal after prize announcement does not entitle participants to alternative compensation.

13.    Liability of the Organizer

Storyblok GmbH makes every reasonable effort to ensure the Hackathon runs smoothly and fairly. However, the Organizer is not liable for:

•       Technical failures, lost or delayed registrations, or connectivity issues at the venue or otherwise.

•       Any injury, loss, or damage arising from participation in the Hackathon or attendance at the event venue.

•       Any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from participation or prize receipt.

•       Circumstances beyond the Organizer’s reasonable control.

Liability for damages caused by slight negligence is expressly excluded to the fullest extent permitted by applicable law. Where liability cannot be excluded by law, it shall be limited to foreseeable damages typical for this type of event.

Participants attend and participate at their own risk and are responsible for arranging their own travel, accommodation, insurance, and any other costs associated with attendance.

14.    Governing Law and Jurisdiction

These Terms and Conditions are governed by Austrian law, excluding any choice of law provisions. The competent courts located in Linz, Austria have exclusive jurisdiction over any disputes arising in connection with the Hackathon and these Terms and Conditions.

15.    Acceptance of Terms

By registering for and participating in the Storyblok x AWS Hackathon 2026, participants confirm that they have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions in full, as well as the Storyblok Privacy Policy available at https://www.storyblok.com/legal/privacy-policy.
