Youâre probably reading this page because you received an email from us about our upcoming pricing & packaging changes. Weâre sure that an email like that can also raise some questions. In this document, weâve tried to address some of those burning questions already so you can get an answer without having to wait for us to reply.

Why is the pricing & packaging changing?
There are two main reasons why weâre introducing these changes:Â
Our existing pricing was not fully aligned to value, making it more difficult for businesses to scale their content operations with Storyblok. Especially the jump between our Entry and Business plan was too great, which is something weâre looking to rectify with these changes.Â
Weâre continuously investing in making Storyblok better - introducing new features, such as our AI Suite and the Concept Room, enhancing performance, and ensuring best-in-class security and support. This price adjustment reflects those improvements and ensures we can continue delivering innovation that helps our customers scale and succeed.
When does the new pricing take effect?
The new pricing will take effect on April 7th. Weâre providing advance notice to ensure you have time to evaluate the changes and discuss any questions with us. We will also be offering a 60 day grace period for monthly subscriptions to our Starter, Growth and Growth Plus Plans to ensure you have adequate time to prepare. Annual contracts of our Starter, Growth and Growth Plus Plans will only be updated at the end of their contractual period - post June 1st.Â
Will the price keep changing in the future?
While we canât predict every future change, we adjust pricing carefully based on the value we deliver. We remain committed to transparency and will always provide ample notice of any future adjustments. If long-term predictability is a priority, we can explore multi-year agreements to lock in pricing.
What are the benefits and key details of the new Pricing?
The main benefit is that weâre able to offer much more flexibility to our users. As our pricing and packaging was not always aligned to what customers were actually using, and because we had much stricter limits, it actually limited the way in which customers were able to grow their content operations.Â
One such feedback that we received, for instance, is that our jump from the Entry Plan to the Business Plan was simply too great for many customers. As a result, businesses didnât feel theyâd be in a position to scale their content operations.Â
With our current plans, we have baked in more flexibility, allowing our customers to expand usage without immediately having to jump to higher pricing plans.
Which plans do you recommend for which type of use cases?
Starter: This is perfect for freelancers and small teams. The Starter plan provides essential content management capabilities with a flexible, user-friendly interface, and allows you to try Storyblok for free.Â
Growth: This is designed for businesses that need advanced content management capabilities, such as increased user and project limits. Get access to the brand new Ideation Room.
Growth Plus: This is tailored to scaling businesses with larger digital teams that manage complex content needs. Implement a system designed to grow with your business.Â
Premium: This is built for mid-market and enterprise organizations with complex content needs. It offers fundamental Enterprise security features that provide you with options for customisation according to your needs, such as SSO and Advanced Support Services including Customer Success support.Â
Elite: This provides limitless access to Storyblok features and unlimited consumption. Maximise your security investment through access controls, a guaranteed 99.99% uptime SLA and Priority Support Services. A package designed to accommodate all your reliability and scalability needs.
Can I switch between plans at any time?
If you are signed up to a one month rolling plan, you can switch between plans at any time at the end of the one-month period. Whether you need to upgrade or downgrade, you can do so through your account settings. Changes will take effect immediately or at the start of your next billing cycle, depending on the plan.
Can I trial the new plans before committing?
Yes, we offer a 14-day free trial of the new plans for new customers, allowing you to explore the features and usage limits before making a decision. Simply sign up on our website to get started. However, for existing customers, a free trial is not available, as the core functionality of the plans remains largely unchanged.
How has the pricing for the new plans changed?
The new plans are priced based on their features and usage limits. While some plans may come at a higher cost, they remain competitive and offer new features, including the Ideation Room, AI SEO and our upcoming Concept Room. The updated pricing helps us keep investing in the features, performance, and support that power your business. We have and continue to work hard to minimise the price impact whilst maximising the value we deliver for your money. And of course, youâll still have the option to switch to any of our new plans that best suit your needs. Please find the new line up here.
Are there any discounts for upgrading to a higher plan?
We occasionally offer promotions and discounts for upgrading to higher plans. Check our website or your email inbox for any ongoing offers.
Will I be locked into a contract with the new plans?
It depends on your choice â Our one month rolling contracts are flexible and you can upgrade or downgrade your plan whenever necessary, with no penalties for switching. You may choose to opt for a 12-month contract, if you desire a longer-term contract.
How can I contact customer support if I have issues with my plan?
Our support team is here to help with any issue that might come up when working with Storyblok. We have different ways to contact us and get in touch with the Storyblok community.

How does this compare to competitors?
While some competitors may have a lower upfront cost, Storyblok is designed to deliver superior value. Our customers often find that our flexibility and ease of use result in a lower total cost of ownership. In addition to this, our consumption based limits are going to be higher than our competitors as weâre keen to support you scale your content operations. If helpful, our sales team would be happy to compare how our features and efficiencies stack up against alternatives.
I wasnât expecting this - can I keep my current pricing?
We understand that pricing changes can be an adjustment. We are giving customers of our Starter, Growth and Growth Plus a 60 day grace period to ensure that you have enough time to prepare for these changes. From June 1st onwards, Storyblok will migrate you to the new offering - depending on the plan that fits your needs best. We are happy to discuss options to help with the transition, such as additional support to maximize the value you get from Storyblok.
Can we negotiate a discount?
Weâve structured our pricing to reflect the value we provide while remaining competitive in the market. However, weâre open to discussing multi-year commitments or volume-based options that might better suit your needs for our Premium and Elite packages.
How do I upgrade my plan?
You can upgrade your plan directly from the Subscription page in Space settings. Simply select the plan that best fits your needs, click on the switch plan option, and follow the payment instructions to complete the process.

Will I lose my data if I upgrade/migrate?
No, upgrading your plan will not result in any loss of data. Your information will remain intact when you switch to your new plan to make the transition for you as smooth as possible.
How have the usage limits changed?
The usage limits have been adjusted across all plans. Some features now offer higher limits, while others have been reduced, based on our users' typical usage patterns. We've also introduced greater flexibility, allowing you to purchase additional usage for the number of monthly API requests and the volume of Traffic per month, as well as adding users, stories, locales and assets.Â

What happens if I exceed my usage limit?
We understand that some months can be exceptionally successful, with a surge in visits! In those cases, youâll have the option to purchase additional units for the features you need, up to a maximum limit. If you exceed the maximum usage limits of your current plan, you will be required to upgrade to the next plan. You will receive notifications as you approach your limit, and once itâs exceeded, youâll be prompted to upgrade.
What if I donât want to upgrade but need more usage?
You will have the option to buy additional units of the features you need up to a maximum limit. Please take a look at the factsheet for the different consumption based features/usage.
Is it possible to select a given datacenter as a self-service customer of Storyblok?
The option to choose a preferred data center location is only available on our Premium and Elite plans.
On our self-service plans (Starter, Growth and Growth Plus), we do not contractually guarantee a specific data center location.
The default location for our data centres will be in the EU.
What if weâre considering switching providers because of this?
Weâd love to discuss any concerns you have and ensure youâre fully aware of the advantages Storyblok provides. Many customers find that switching to an alternative has hidden costs in migration, retraining, and lost productivity. Letâs explore how we can make this work for you.
How does this impact multi-year agreements?
If you have an existing Enterprise multi-year agreement, your pricing remains unchanged for the duration of that contract. If youâre considering a multi-year commitment, we can discuss options to lock in pricing for the future.
What are the overage charges if I exceed my usage?
Overage charges are based on your current plan and the number of additional units you use.

Will I be notified of overage charges in advance?
Yes, in-app notifications will inform you when you approach or exceed limits.
In addition, Starter, Growth and Growth Plus customers will receive an estimation of their cost based on current usage on their Subscription page. This does not include users and traffic volume since they follow different billing rules.
Users are charged at the time of addition. A message about extra costs appears when the first additional user is added, but not for subsequent ones. Additional users are charged with the subscription. For annual plans, additional users are billed upfront for the entire year.
Traffic Volume is charged upon exceeding the limit. If usage surpasses the planâs allowance, the system automatically bills for an additional usage pack. And it repeats on exceeding the contracted pack.
Premium and Elite customers need to reach out to their Customer Success Manager to discuss further steps.
Can I avoid overage charges by switching to a higher plan proactively?
Absolutely! If you anticipate using much more than included in your current plan, we recommend upgrading to the next plan before you reach the limit. This will help you avoid overage charges and ensure you have the units you need at the best value for money.
How do I upgrade my plan?
